Hoop Group

Hoop Group is a worldwide leader in basketball instruction, providing various camps, clinics and other opportunities to encourage, coach, and provide exposure to young players. There are 131 Hoop Group alumni currently playing for the NBA including reputed players like Kobe Bryant and Carmelo Anthony. Hatteras has teamed with Hoop Group on a wide variety of projects over the last four years. Collectively, it was noted that the projects with personalization always yielded a better ROI. Keeping the success of personalized mailers at the forefront of the discussion, the Holiday Promotion Mailer was produced utilizing variable data to further reach its audience.

Two versions of the holiday summer camp mailer were produced – one for male athletes and one for female. The final product is an oblong self-mailer, with variable data on both sides of the piece. Hatteras handled all aspects of data management – ensuring that the finished piece came out both customized and pre-sorted for mail. With tight production times, the piece could be entirely produced and addressed on the HP Indigo 7600, saving time and cost.

The objective of the mailer was to promote camps as a holiday gift to the young athletes. It was essential that the mailer’s in-home date gave parents and family enough time to purchase the gift; turnaround time was of great importance. The success of this piece relied on the digital, data and direct mail teams at Hatteras, who executed this project before the final buzzer.
