Spark44, the creative agency responsible for all Land Rover and Jaguar branding and marketing materials, wanted to create a brochure that would contain an actual working compass to showcase their full line of vehicles for a spring sales promotion. The designer wanted to use a topographic map that repeated on every page as a background, and to trim the face of the pages in shapes that mimicked the contours of the map.
When Spark44 came to Hatteras with the bold and interactive idea, our design team conceptualized several options for enclosing and attaching the compass, as well as die-cutting the pages. Our collaboration ended with the compass mounted to the inside back cover, with the three-dimensional item protruding through all of the other leaves and the front cover.
