Land Rover "Explore a New Direction" Brochure

Scope

Spark44, the creative agency responsible for all Land Rover and Jaguar branding and marketing materials, wanted to create a brochure that would contain an actual working compass to showcase their full line of vehicles for a spring sales promotion. The designer wanted to use a topographic map that repeated on every page as a background, and to trim the face of the pages in shapes that mimicked the contours of the map.

When Spark44 came to Hatteras with the bold and interactive idea, our design team conceptualized several options for enclosing and attaching the compass, as well as die-cutting the pages. Our collaboration ended with the compass mounted to the inside back cover, with the three-dimensional item protruding through all of the other leaves and the front cover.

Deliverables

Hatteras worked with Spark44 to ensure that the end product was exactly what they had envisioned—and more. Our consultative approach to the production aspects of this piece allowed the designers to push their visuals beyond ink on paper. Spark44’s trust in Hatteras’ design concepts and innovative methodology propelled this product well past what a traditional consumer would expect from an automobile brand.

Mohawk, one of our most-trusted bespoke paper manufacturers, was able to produce and deliver the entire order of 425,000 sheets of paper in under a week, showcasing the flexibility of working with a local mill whose ethos is the same as ours: meeting the clients needs quickly and efficiently.

Production Notes:

Conceptualization, pre-production, manufacturing, die cutting, stitching, hand assembling, and the mailing of 250,000 final pieces was executed entirely by the Hatteras team at our New Jersey plant.
