'Being Green' Photo Book

CASE BOUND BOOK | VANS SNOWBOARDING TEAM

Celebrating "the legends who shaped snowboarding into what it is today."

Being Green is a photo book produced by snowboard photographers Tanner Pendleton, Oli Gagnon and Jake Price. This visual documentary of sorts follows the Vans snowboard team during the period surrounding their first full-length film, Landline, capturing candid, precious moments of these coming-of-age men.
As stated on the web store where copies of the book can be purchased, “Photographs in this book were created by and depict individuals who have dedicated their lives to snowboarding – from the living legends who shaped snowboarding into what it is today, to the modern youth who carry their torch.”
Photographer Tanner Pendleton, who spearheaded the book’s production yet admittedly knew little about printing, said “I walked into Hatteras with a dream and very little knowledge of how to make it a reality.”

Hatteras President, Bill Duerr, who was an acquaintance of Tanner’s, decided to take it on as his personal project. “The imagery and content of this book had been developing for years, so I was honored to play a small part in bringing it to life through print.”

Bill worked with Tanner to explore different substrates and finishing techniques based the visual and textural experience Tanner was looking to achieve. The final product is a 136-page Smyth-Sewn Case Bound Book with Checkered Headbands. The cover is Black Canapetta Fabric sourced from Italy and imprinted with gold foil, with French Kraft Tone Carbon Copy Endleaves. The text pages are 100# Mohawk Superfine, with 70# French Green Kraft Tone index pages.

Client Testimonial
“Within minutes of talking to Bill I knew I was in the right place. I could tell there was a vast amount of experience under his belt, but most importantly, total commitment to making sure the final result was perfect at all costs. In time I learned these qualities extend to the entire team at Hatteras as they helped me along the way from creating the book to printing for the opening party to fulfilling online orders. If I could describe Bill and the team in one word it would be: dependable!”
